What’s happened to FireWire?

Like many others, the purchase of a new iPhone 3g has rendered many of the iPod accessories obsolete.  The biggest surprise for me is that Apple’s own iPod dock, which was purchased with my 4g iPod, won’t charge my new iPhone.  There was talk of Apple changing the charging mechanism, but I refused to believe [...]

5 Quick iPhone 3g Tips

I won’t beat around the bush, so here are 5 really quick iPhone 3g tips to keep you occupied. And even if you’re not using an iPhone 3g, many will work with the original iPhone and iPod Touch. So here goes. Don’t pay for ringtones - There’s no need to pay for ringtones.  Just [...]

Display Upcoming Events on the iPhone Sleep Screen Without Hacks or Apps

Moving from a Nokia N95 to an iPhone 3g (eventually), one of the things I will miss is the list of upcoming events on the home screen.  Essentially, it’s just a simple list of events in my calendar that occur in the next few days.  So how can we emulate this functionality on an iPhone [...]

How To Easily Check iPhone 3g Availability

With O2 and Carphone Warehouse completely sold out of iPhone 3gs (at least according to their websites), it would appear that Apple Stores are the only place you’re going to find one of the elusive blighters.  But how do you know they’ll have one in stock?  Well fortunately Apple has provided a page on its [...]

iPhone Twitter App Showdown

The iPhone App Store has been one of the few true triumphs with regards to the iPhone 3g launch.  Considering the problems Mobile Me has been having, the problems upgrading the firmware 2.0 and the mass activation problems that struck on day one, the App Store launch is really the only thing that went smoothly.  [...]

Launching a new blog!

A few hours ago I launched a new blog. It's called Blog, the magazine and is all about blogging. I've gone down a slightly different path this time, as it doesn't take the form of a traditional blog. Instead, it has issues, with each issues containing a number of posts. Just like a real magazine. I've written the theme from scratch (with help from Blueprint CSS) so that it behaves like a magazine. For example, there's a headline story that appears in… Continue

It's a shame...

I've just realised that the new FireFox Beta 3 doesn't appear to be working correctly with ning. The bar that goes across the top of the screen doesn't work, which means you can't send, or read messages of friend requests. I wonder when it will get fixed?

Started a new blog

I started a new blog about a week ago. It was a strange experience, starting off in a niche I've never really been involved in before. It's not a very tech savvy niche, so my experience has certainly differed from other blog launches I've done. A week on, I'll definitely take the following lessons on board for future projects

  • Free Wordpress templates are loads better than they used to be.
  • Less Tech savvy users = less links and lower alexa rankings.
  • Getting a l

Profitable Loopholes

I'm a great fan of getting things for free, especially when said things are risk free. There are lots of loopholes you can exploit across the internet to get "free" things, and I've just come across another one. This isn't going to be as profitable as some other loopholes, for example a keyword pricing imbalance (where you could buy adverts for less than the money you make from similar adverts being clicked) that recently came up across the internet advertising networks recently bagged thousands… Continue

Hi Simon. Yes I've found the contact pane now also. It's been a while since I've been on this site. I was having terrible problems with Ning before I got the new iMac with Leopard. Now (fingers crossed) it's all going well.

Hey Simon. Thanks for all the effort you are putting into this group. I appreciate it and I know many others do as well.

I first lived in England from 83 to 85. I remember always needing to carry a sweater or light jacket in the boot "just in case". - JWS

Hi Simon,
I'm back from a cross-country trip. Hey I just realized that probably doesn't have quite the same impact to you over in the UK as it does in the US. Anyway, thought I'd check in with the creating a blog idea/project and see where you were with it.
