Professional negligence leads to school being built on bombing range

A U.S school is seeking compensation after two engineering firms failed to notify the school district that the land they were purchasing to build the school on was a former bombing range.
According to the school district, the two firms who were paid to assess the safety of the area should have informed them that it had been a defence site to test bombs and rockets during the World War 2.
Without the knowledge of the former bombing range, the disctrict purchased the 34 acre land and built a middle school in 2001.
In the lawsuit, the district stated that it would not have purchased the land if it was made aware of the risk.
The district was only made aware of the risk after over 400 unexploded bombs were discovered on the property which led the Army Corps to look into decades of old documents.
The school is now seeking an unspecified amount in damages for professional negligence.
