Ex-soldier who was offered £2,000 from Army compo scheme wins over £300,000 after filing accident claim

An ex-soldier who rejected a four figure sum in compensation from the Government after developing an industrial deafnesshas received a six figure sum as a result of filing an accident claim.

The 22 year old former soldier from Sunderland filed a claim through the traditional Ministry of Defence channels after suffering from tinnitus which developed after being exposed to gunshot noises during training exercises where ear protection was not avaliable.

He was offered £2,000 from the Army’s compensation scheme which left him disappointed.

He turned the offer down and contacted an injury lawyer to file a claim through the court.

As a result, the man was awarded £328,921 in compensation.
