American Express urges Brits to take out travel insurance

Credit card provider, American Express is urging holidaymakers to ensure they take out travel insurance even if they are planning to travel closer to home.
The credit card provider stated that 30 per cent of Brits are cutting back on insurance to reduce costs during the recession.
Research from the firm also revealed that more travellers are opting for single trip travel insurance compared to last year.
However, Chris Rolland, head of Insurance Services at American Express advised holidaymakers who will be travelling across the UK on a number of occasions to purchase multi-trip annual insurance instead.
He said: "With 'staycations' on the rise, it's still important to make sure trips closer to home are covered so that you're not out of pocket if you have to cancel the trip or if something goes wrong."
