I wrote my first blog entry over a year ago, but didn't start posting in earnest until about February of 2007. I had started tuning in to the blogs of other e-Learning professionals, and realized there was something going on out there that I wanted to be a part of. I'm a social creature at heart, working in a small organization -- I can sometimes feel a bit isolated.

Blogging as part of a community has expanded my office walls immensely, allowing me to forge new connections (and even friendships!), stir up some business opportunities, and learn learn learn.

I've become a part of the Building a Better Blog Community because I see how taking your community to the next level and truly engaging with a group of smart, motivated, funny and caring individuals makes it way 'moh bettah!

Agree about expanding the office walls via this marvellous social-learning application. I've always been a time-poor academic conscious of the fact that I do not publish enough ... not enough time to write. This year, since I have been blogging on a regular basis, I have managed to get two papers published, and I know it's because I've written a little every day or so. That little expands a lot over time, and the cutting, pasting, and shaping into the paper that results seems to take far less time. I'm smiling!

It's insidious, this blogging stuff, isn't it? You start out reading a few and the next thing you know you're hooked and everything is potential blog fodder! I agree wholeheartedly about the social learning aspect. In some ways, I have found deeper friendships online than in the "real world"--whatever that means. I count you among those people. :-)
