I'm Michele Martin

I've been blogging for over a year now at The Bamboo Project. Through that experience, as well as the 31 Days to Building a Better Blog Challenge, I've come to believe that blogging holds so much potential for learning and connecting to other people. It's an area that I want to explore further.

Here are my blog posts from the 31 Days to Building a Better Blog project.

Besides my blog, you can also find me at the Web 2.0 in Nonprofits wiki, where I'm collecting resources for nonprofits and other organizations on using blogs, wikis, social networks, podcasts, etc.

My latest project is Beyond the Glass Ceiling, a social network and blog to support women's career and professional development.

One Goal Down. . .

So one of my goals for the next month was to create another Sneeze Page. I kind of cheated with that one because I knew I'd already started it, but hey--this community-building stuff is hard work! This one summarizes the entire 31 Days to Building a Better Blog Learning Experiment.

Results of 31 Days to Building a Better Blog--Growth in Community

Wrote today on The Bamboo Project about the growth in community that came from the 31 Days project. What was most striking to me in all of this was the extent to which I began to feel more connected to other people as a community. As I said in the blog post, I used to feel when I came online like I was looking for a place to sit in the cafeteria. Now I feel like I have a group that calls me over to j… Continue

Weekly Challenge 1--My Goals for Getting Reorganized

Although I managed to make it through most of the 31 Days of activities, I know I still have a few I wanted to go back through. So the goals I've set for myself this month are to:

  • Finish my mission
  • Re-do my SWOT in light of my mission
  • Analyze my "competition" (easier once I have a mission)
  • Do at least one more Sneeze page, although I still need to decide on what.
I've also decided that I'm going to keep track of most of my efforts related t… Continue

Hi Michele,

I don't know how I moused my way here, but I see we have a number of mutual interests. In addition to being a Philadelphian (sort of) I also am interesting in building a better blog. And if it results in a better world, that's good too.

I've been blogging for more than a year, and am happy with a steady stream of visitors, but I was hoping for an exponential growth. I'm still waiting.

Perhaps I can follow some of your advice, and find more of my audience. You have a lot of material here. I will try to find my way through it. Nice to meet you. I like the look and feel of your work. Keep in touch.

Michele,

I love what you have started here! I have been lurking for a while and decided to jump into the water. I also have been out to visit the Bamboo Project. Good stuff...

Dear Michele
I`ve been at your Building a better blog project in Feb 2008. I was sad because even working hard I did not had results with my blogs. Thalia, from your group of friends, made some comments on my blog and I made the changes she recommended. Now when I see my name in Google I have more than ten pages with my name Nadiva Olivier and the blogs I have, including Brazil Factor, which is the new name of the blog Thalia commented (Coach Nadiva, before). The change of the name was a recommendation too.

I am really happy and I came here to tell you that. A human being that makes a so helpful project to other human beings must have this feedback. You made me happy. Really. I was almost abandoning the blog activities when I came to you.

Tonight I am toasting (with a very good italian wine) to this event and toasting to you and Thalia. Thank you so much!

Hey Michele! Do you ever have workshops in Philadelphia where you discuss social media as an important learning tool for non profits or discussing non profits in general?
