What Do You think of the "New at BBB" Section on the Front Page?

I'm trying to provide the features and resources that will really help everyone navigate through our site and get the most use from it. One feature I added was the "New at Building a Better Blog" section at the top of the main page. I've been trying to pull out key questions, make announcements, etc. there.

What I'm wondering is if this feature is helpful. Can you please weigh in--pro or con--below?

I find it useful. The up and downside of a growing site like this, is that you can miss adds if you don't RSS every discussion and/or page. An updated 'bulletin board' section of what's new is great. Yes please! Great idea Michelle.
