We've been discussing the weekly challenge format/ideas in this forum and there are a few things from there that I wanted to pull out and make more central for discussion. One of those issues is who should be responsible for the weekly challenges.

One school of thought says that we have one person who does this (me, right now) who would go through challenge ideas, etc. to post them each Tuesday.

But Cammy Bean has made the suggestion that we rotate the responsibility for doing the challenges, in part because it's another way for each of us to actively engage with the community. I tend to like this idea, but I'd like your feedback on this.

So. . .

**Should we share weekly challenge responsibilities so that everyone takes a turn?

**If so, how often do we want to rotate responsibility? Every week? Every two weeks? On a monthly basis?

**How do we want to sign up? I can set up a Google doc to share and then we could each fill in when we'd be willing to do the challenge.

I'm willing to do the weekly challenges for however long we want me to, but I think that Cammy's suggestion makes a lot of sense. I could still coordinate sending out reminders, etc. similar to the Blog Carnivals I've participated in. Just let me know what everyone thinks.

I, of course, like the idea. Until I'll be the one hosting the challenge week that is. Heh heh. But seriously folks....I'd say rotate responsibility on a weekly basis so that it doesn't become a burden to anyone. I'm all in favor of keeping things light.

OK--note to self. . . Cammy will host next week. :-)

I like this idea, the whole weekly challenge idea really, but rotating leadership for it gives people a chance to showcase a talent or interest.

Yes.

I think weekly works great.

hmmm, some webcalendar tool maybe.

Mike, I think the calendar is a great idea, but I can't find any good widgets for us to use here. Any suggestions? Or maybe I should just set up a shared Google Calendar for us.

I am happy either way.

There definitely needs to be a key leader, that makes sure it happens, which am happy to be Michelle. So that if, for whatever reason the person is unable to set up the weekly challenge by the Tuesday, Michelle can jump in and do it. If Michelle gets overwhelmed by ensuring the community communications continuing running smoothly she can then ask some one to take over and help her.

Hi Michelle
yep, weekly sounds good with you as den mother to keep us going. The Google doc is OK by me to schedule. Either that or Google Calendar?

I think rotating the responsibility is a good idea, if only in practical terms. But it may also be a good idea for people to share what they think works as no doubt everyone has different ideas (and experiences).

It may be a good idea to have a list of backups available in case someone can't arrange the challenge in time. The other thing that's occurred to me, if we have a shared document that everyone can go in and edit, is everyone going to be able to see the upcoming challenges, and jump the gun. it may work against having scheduled challenges if everyone knows what's coming. Bloggers don't strike me as a patient bunch.
